HCARS is a family of amateur radio operators dedicated to helping others. This is especially true during natural disasters or other emergencies. Many of our members are affiliated with ARES, RACES, and Skywarn. The club owns and maintains the 147.015 MHz repeater located near Belleville, Indiana. The club call sign is N9HC.

Meeting Notes: January 14, 2019

The meeting was called to order at 7:04 pm by Club President John Farmer.
There were 14 members and 3 visitors in attendance.

Secretary’s Report :Ron Burke
• Minutes from November 2018 and the Christmas Dinner were read.

Treasurer’s Report :Wayne Fox
• Expenses for the period: for Christmas Dinner, balance of the County Fairgrounds, for business checks, for new Technician Class book.

ARES Report : Ron Burke
• Ron is pushing Packet mode amateur radio by having a radio station built and that later the hospitals and the County EOC will have Packet radio stations up and running.

Meeting Notes: December 8, 2018

The annual HCARS Christmas dinner and election of officers for the year 2019 was held at the Hendricks County Senior Services Building in Danville, IN. Chicken, Mashed potatoes, Green beans, dessert, and drinks, were provided by the club. 33 total in attendance.

The dinner started at 6pm with the meeting at 7:35pm. Club President John Farmer called the meeting to order.

There were 12 members and 3 visitors in attendance.

• $300 were given to the Avon Robotic Club.

Old Business :
• My story series by John Farmer of how he became involved in amateur radio was this month followed by Mike Rollins who will tell us his story in January.
• Club’s Hamfest: John Farmer has a list of possible food vendors to be select from for the club’s Hamfest.

• Our SET (Simulated Emergency Test) October 5th went very well.
• We will be at the County Fairgrounds participating in the Kids Fair by having a display booth. Hours 12-4p.
• We also will be at McCloud Park to help with their marathon and Fall Festival on October 20th, 9a-4p.

• Saturday September 15th, Hospital Net; 147.570 MHz Simplex. The County Health Hams will practice passing a message to a hospital ham.

• It was observed recently that the weeds at the repeater site were tall and were weed-wacked down.
