Meeting notes: January 9, 2017

The meeting was called to order at 7:02 pm by Club Vice President Mike Rollins. There were 21 members and 2 visitors in attendance.

Secretary’s Report :Ron Burke
• Minutes from November and the Club’s Christmas business meeting were read and approved.

Treasurer’s Report :Wayne Fox

Trustee Tech. Committee Report :
• The club’s new Yaesu Fusion repeater has been updated.

ARES Report : Ron Burke
• Hospital Net to resume this year on the third Saturday of every month at 10:30am. This month it will be January 21. Frequency is: 147.570 MHz.
• Monthly membership meeting, January 18th 7-9pm at the Senior Services Center.

RACES Report : Bob Burns
• NWS Storm Spotter class on March 4th, 1-3pm at the Hendricks County Govt. Building.

New Business :
• This year’s Winter Field Day sponsored by the HCRCSG, will be held on January 28-29. It will be in Hendricks County at the Senior Services Center. Setup will begin around 10am. Event will start around 2pm on Saturday the 28th and will run through the night and will end around 2pm on Sunday the 29th. Wayne Michael will need volunteers for setup and operating radios.
• The club will help sponsor this year’s Avon Robotic club. Dennis Gilbey made a motion for the club to donate $300 this year, Jay Wright seconded, motion passed.
• This year’s hamfest chairman Bruce Jones gave a report to the club about the progress and activities of the hamfest.
• A discussion about the handling of who wins the prizes at the hamfest was brought up. Bob Thompson made a motion that whoever wins a prize, wins the prize. Regardless whether the winner carries a valid FCC amateur radio license or not. This motion was seconded by Rick Burdan. Motion passed.

• The club’s annual ham training class starts on March 3rd and will run through 8 weeks, every Friday night. 7-9pm.Extra class materials and some trainers for this class is needed.

Meeting closed : At 8:19pm Bruce Jones made a motion to close the meeting, which was seconded by Don Somerville.
