SPECIAL EVENT ON HAM RADIO HONORS ADRIAN PARSONS

An Indiana soybean pioneer from Avon will be honored with a special event on amateur radio in Danville on Saturday, June 11.

Adrian Parsons was an Avon area farmer who first brought soybeans to Indiana in the 1880s, and promoted their cultivation among Hoosier farmers in the ensuing years.

To help commemorate Hendricks County's role during Indiana's Bicentennial year, ham radio operators will be set up during the day on June 11 at the Gazebo in Ellis Park in Danville.

Operating as special event station K9W, local ham radio operators will be on the air to make contacts with other hams in Indiana, the United States and elsewhere. All local licensed amateurs and anyone interested in ham radio are invited to participate.

Operating hours will be announced later this week.
