Meeting notes: October 13, 2014

The meeting was called to order at 7:02pm by President John Farmer. There were 20 members and 2 visitors in attendance.

Secretary’s Report: Ron Burke
• Minutes of the September report was read and approved.

Treasurer’s Report: Wayne Fox

Trustee’s Report: Harold Davis
• Repeater is working fine. Will be working on it Saturday Oct.18th.

ARES Report: Ron Burke
• The hospital radio net this Thursday (Oct.16th.) at 9:30am on 147.570
• S.E.T. exercise this Saturday (Oct.18th.)
• Want to thank all of the hams who participated in the Quaker Day Fest in Sept. Also I want to thank Carrie Dishman (owner of the Mc’D’s on Vestal Rd.) for giving us free Big Mac coupons as a token of appreciation for us helping the Plainfield Chamber of Commerce with the event.

RACES Report: Bob Burns
• There may be severe weather activity tonight, so be aware of weather moving into the area.
• Preliminary assignments for the Halloween Patrol will be issued later this week. Thanks to all who volunteered for this assignment.
• There was a District 5 Hospital Exercise last Wednesday. Ron Burke checked into the district net on behalf of Hendricks EMA. Gordon Cotton helped our county health dept. by teaching the health dept. on how to set-up their AM broadcast portable radio station.

Old Business:
• Dennis Gilbey received an e-mail from Congressman Rokita’s Liaison Rep. in regards of obtaining e-mail addresses from those hams who attended the meeting with the Congressman talking about HR4969.
• John Farmer has contacted the Avon School Robotics club leader to see if he can attend our November club meeting and talk about the robots they build to compete.
• Had a Hilltop contest review discussion.

New Business:
• Dennis Gilbey made a motion for the club to spend $50 for food for the Awards Ceremony on November 19th. Jay Wright Seconded, motion passed with two opposed.
• Talked about needing four delegates, two can attend on behalf of the club during the I.R.C.C. (Indiana Radio Club Council) meeting. Four club members accepted on being the delegates.
• Tom Hansen will be this year’s chairman for the club’s Christmas Dinner and activities in December. Jay Wright will obtain a date for the dinner.
• Bob Thompson has agreed to be the chairman for the club’s hamfest coming up in February. Harold Davis will handle the talk-in.
• All current club officers except Mike Rollins current Vice President who wasn’t present, have agreed to maintain their positions for next year.
• There will be a ham training class with testing on October 25th, November 1st. Hours are 8a-5p on Oct.25th, 8a-5p on Nov.1st with testing hours 3-5p.

Other Announcements:
• November 19th Hams award Ceremony at the government center in Danville, starting at 7pm.
• Ham training class at the Senior Services Center will be January 28th.

Meeting closed at 8:36 pm. Bob Thompson made a motion to close the meeting, which was seconded by Barry Palencer.
