Meeting notes: September 8, 2014

The meeting was called to order at 7:01pm by President John Farmer. There were 20 members and 4 visitors in attendance.

Secretary’s Report :Ron Burke
• Minutes of the August report was read and approved.

Treasurer’s Report :Wayne Fox

Trustee’s Report :
• Repeater is working fine.

ARES Report : Ron Burke
• Gordon Cotton is setting up for a Blood Drive, needs 27 volunteers.
• S.E.T. OCT. 18th, Quaker Day Fest Sept. 20-21, ARES membership meeting Sept.15th.
• Gordon is working on the ARES Training classes for 2015.
• Our website is Bill Gouge who manages this web has done a fabulous job, has a lot of new items on this page.
• HCARES is proclaiming this month as “preparedness month.”

RACES Report : Bob Burns
• Thanked everyone for participating in the past weather nets. Seems that the recent strong thunderstorms in this area were producing Squall line type Tornados which is something the weather radar has trouble seeing.
• Halloween patrol coming up in October.

Old Business :
• Hilltop Contest; Mike Rollins has copies of operating rules for the September 27th event.

New Business :
• The club will pay $250 to the Avon Robotics Club. Bob Thompson made the motion, Gordon Cotton seconded, motion passed.
• The club had a discussion about the meeting of HR4969 with Congressman Rokita, John Farmer, Ron Burke, Dennis Gilbey, and Tom Hansen. John Farmer will produce a thank you letter in regards for the meeting of the HR 4969.
• Two Tech. classes will be October 25th, and November 1st. Will need instructors, and examiners.
• The club has three Internet info pages; 1.) Club website. 2.) Facebook. 3.) HCARS yahoo group.

Other Announcements :
• This Friday (Sept.12) is the Indpls. Radio club meeting.

Special Report :
• Mike Rollins showed a DVD that was produced by WFYI television that interviewed several hams at a 2009 Hilltop event.

Meeting closed : at 8:40 pm Dennis Gilbey made a motion to close the meeting, which was seconded by Gordon Cotton.
