Meeting notes: August 11, 2014

The meeting was called to order at 7:00pm by President John Farmer. There were 20 members and 5 visitors in attendance.

Secretary’s Report :Ron Burke
• Minutes of the July report was read and approved.

Treasurer’s Report :Wayne Fox

Trustee’s Report :
• Repeater is working fine.

ARES Report : Ron Burke
• Some of the hospital ham’s participated in an L.E.P.C. exercise event earlier today.
• Did a signal test July 26, four mobile operators that also carried an dual-band HT with them. The testing station was at our ERN #1 location. Will do an antenna test at the H.C.C.C. located in Plainfield later this month.
• Quaker Day Festival is Sept.19-21 of this year. Will need volunteers again for this annual event.

RACES Report : Bob Burns
• The Hendricks county EMA Director has been invited to be on a weather committee.
• 442.900 Repeater has a PL Tone of 136.5.

Old Business :
• Numbers for Field Day points; 10150, plus 690 bonus = 1840 total score.
• Hilltop; Mike Rollins got permission from the homeowner to set up for this year’s event.

New Business :
• There was a discussion about HR 4969, at Congressman Todd Rokita’s Town Hall meeting.
• Dennis Gilbey commented about the club sponsoring a future ARRL Indiana Section Manager.
• Dennis also spoke about putting together a Special Event Station which would prelude to the club’s Field Day for next year.
• Wayne Michael made a club Facebook page.
• President John Farmer wants the club members to start thinking about; The Club’s Christmas Party, Committee for the Hamfest. Need ideas and comments.

Other Announcements :
• President John Farmer spoke about the passing of a Life member of the club, John McMahan K9KVZ. Funeral arrangements will be Saturday August 16th, 2014 at Avon United Methodist Church, 6850 E. U.S. 36 Avon Indiana. Viewing 11am-1pm, service at 1pm. Refreshments and fellowship to follow. John also read off some hamfest dates and places.
• Jay Wright: being a ARRL VE you don’t have to be an ARRL member.
• Jay also commented about this year’s Amateur Radio Awards Night on November 19th, 7pm, at the Govt. Center in Danville.

Special Report :
• Tom Hansen talked about looking for an old school font for your log.

Meeting closed : at 8:40 pm Gordon Cotton made a motion to close the meeting, which was seconded by Tom Hansen.
