Meeting notes: February 10, 2014

The meeting was called to order at 7:00pm by President John Farmer followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. There were 20 members and 3 visitors in attendance.

Secretary’s Report :
• Minutes of the January report was read and approved.

Treasurer’s Report :
• Wayne Fox presented the report. Expenses this month, ARRL insurance for the club $200, bought another Dell projector $319, bought from the Hendricks County ARES, Kenwood TS-430S HF transceiver, and a MFJ 949E Tuner for $250.

Trustee’s Report :
• Harold Davis said that a CTCSS was added so that those who have HT’s would be able to get into the repeater by opening up the squelch of the repeater.

ARES Report :
• Ron Burke stated that he turned in a list of repeaters that the Hendricks County ARES would use in the event of an emergency to the ARES S.E.C. The club’s repeater is on that list. The S.E.C. Larry Jones WB9FHP will in turn hand the list over to FEMA so that we may get assistance during an emergency to keep the repeater operational. This might be extra fuel for a generator and/or loan a temporary generator to run the repeater.
• The Hospital Net is on the third Thursday of each month, 147.570 simplex at 9:30am. The net controller will be from either at HRH or I.U.West. He/she is practicing their skills as an ham radio operator for the hospital during an disaster. Please check into this net as it will help them with this practice.

RACES Report :
• Bob Burns commented that March 1st at 12:30pm will be the NWS Severe Weather Spotter Training Program, which is hosted by the NWS.
• Park to Park Relay will be June 14th.

Old Business :
• Mike Rollins passed out certificates to those that participated in last year’s Hilltop Event.
• Bob Thompson commented about last minute preparations for the Brownsburg Hamfest.
• Wayne Fox drew a layout of the Brownsburg Hamfest.

New Business :
• John Farmer asked the club for and entertained a motion to give $250 to the Robotics Club at the Avon High School. Motion was passed.

Other Announcements :
• Bob Burns talked about an event that involved the Purdue University Outing Club and amateur radio.
• Tom Hansen commented about a contact he made at Reunion Island, Amsterdam, and St.Paul Islands.
• Jay Wright stated that the Wednesday ham training classes are doing good and have a lot of people signed up.
Special Report :
• No report.

Meeting closed : at 8:35 pm Tom Hansen made a motion to close the meeting, which was seconded by Erik Cohee.
