Meeting notes: November 11, 2013

The meeting (which was held at the Hendricks County Airport) was called to order at 7:00pm by President John Farmer followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. There were 16 members and 1 visitor in attendance.

Secretary’s Report :
• Minutes of the October report was read and approved. Dennis Gilbey made the motion to accept the minutes as given.

Treasurer’s Report :
• Wayne Fox presented the report. Expenses were $5.50 for snacks from the Pilot’s Lounge at the Hendricks County Airport during the October’s club meeting.

Trustee’s Report :
• Harold Davis stated that he will shut down the club’s repeater for a day, day and a half to install a DCS ( Digital Code Squelch ) which will enable to open the squelch for those who have H.T.’s. Jay Wright will assist.

ARES Report :
• Ron Burke commented on January 25th, ARES will host a training class for those hams who are slated to run the hospitals Amateur Radio’s. In this class they will learn to operate the radio and receive updates from the hospitals.

RACES Report :
• Ron Burke filling in for Bob Burns said that Bob would like thank all those who took part in this year’s Halloween Patrol.

Old Business :
• Mike Rollins said that the chairman of the Hilltop Contest will be printing out certificates for those who participated in the event this year and will give a certificate to the club as well.
• Bob Thompson said that the Brownsburg Hamfest will be held on February 22, 2014. Food will be available by the Legion members. Wayne Fox read from a flyer that advanced set-up is Friday February 21, 3-7:30pm, Saturday February 22, set-up will be 6-7am. Hamfest will start at 7am till 3pm. Harold Davis will do the talk-in on Saturday on the 147.015 repeater.

• Wayne Fox said that the Club’s Christmas Dinner will be December 3rd , 6-10pm. Tom Hansen asked the club for a list of who’s going and what kind of pizza to order.

New Business :
• John Farmer had asked the club for several ideas about donating some money to various groups/ organizations.

Other Announcements :
• Wayne Fox made the comment that the ham training class will be January 29, 7-9pm at the Senior Services Center.
• Dennis Gilbey said that he has the Wouff Hong certificates, will pass them out later. Also the I.R.C.C. Amateur of the Year Ceremony at the Ft. Wayne Hamfest will start at 11:15am Saturday in the Blue Room followed by at noon the Wouff Hong Ceremony.
• Ron Burke stated that on November 22nd, the TV show “ Last Man Standing” starring Tim Allen will have Tim operating a ham radio. John Farmer commented further about this particular episode of the show.

• No report.

Meeting closed : at 8:25 pm Mike Rollins and Bob Thompson made a motion to close the meeting, which was seconded by Travis Vetters.
