Meeting notes: August 12, 2013

The meeting was called to order at 7:01pm by President John Farmer followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. There were 17 members and 6 visitors in attendance.

Secretary’s Report :
• Minutes of the July report was read and approved.

Treasurer’s Report :
• Wayne Fox presented the report. Expenses were Avon school surplus sale of $10 for a portable blackboard.

Trustee’s Report :
• No Report

ARES Report :
• Ron Burke said that a Net Control training class will be April 12.2014. Time will be from 1p-3p.
• The month of September will be "Preparedness month." Each week there will be a segment of this topic on our Tuesday night net.
• Ron passed around a sign-up sheet for the Quaker Day Festival in Plainfield, September 20-21. This year we’ll have 2 hour shifts, and Carrie Dishman who owns two Plainfield McDonalds donated FREE Big Mac coupons to us to pass out to the hams who work this event.

RACES Report :
• Bob Burns thanked everyone who participated in July’s State RACES drill.

Old Business :
• Mike Rollins read off the rules and requirements for the “ Hilltop” radio event September 28, 8a-12p ( noon.)
• The club had a discussion and voted the name of our hill for the “ Hilltop” radio event. The name that was voted in is “ Persimmon Hill”.

New Business :
• Bob Thompson will be the club’s new General Chairman for our hamfest. The tentative date for 2014 hamfest at Brownsburg is February 15th.

Other Announcements :
• John Farmer read a list of dates from Hamfest’s around Indiana.
• Dennis Gilbey said he needs nominations of names for this year’s “ Ham of the Year.”
• Brownsburg Lions Club recognized the club for being Community Supporters of the parade by help providing Communications for the Parade.
• Wayne Fox has Club patches for $3 each, limited supply.

Meeting closed : at 8:20 pm Bob Thompson made a motion to close the meeting, which was seconded by Dave Asher.
