Meeting notes: January 10, 2011

The meeting was called to order by Wayne Fox at 7:00 PM. (President John Farmer and Vice President Dennis Gilbey were absent due to job and family responsibilities.) There were 17 members present.

Treasurer’s report was provided by Wayne Fox KE9P.

Repeater report (Harold Davis, Trustee):
There was some work done on the repeater. Due to complaints, the repeater was checked. SWR was higher than expected. Tune-up was done. All is well now.

ARES report:
Ron Burke reported that ICOM is pushing DSTAR, although digital repeaters are very costly. Local ARES is accepting donations of working equipment for the county. Hendricks County has 29 ARES members. The weekly net will resume on February 1, 2011. There will be a training session on January 25th at the Senior Services Center in Danville, IN, from 7:00-9:00 PM.

(At this time, the fire alarm in the Government Center sounded, touched off by a SWAT exercise in the building. Although disturbing, the meeting continued while the alarm continued for an hour.)
New Business:
1. A new club roster will be published in March. Anyone wishing to be on the roster should pay dues by then.
2. The Christmas party was deemed successful. It will most likely be repeated next season.
3. For those who are ARES members but do not have photo IDs, get with Ken Kayler for more information.
4. Radio license classes will begin January 26th from 7:00-9:00 PM at the Senior Services Center in Danville. There have been problems with study books. HCARS will use Power Point presentations for classes. The classes will last for eight weeks.
5. The club’s non-profit status is still undetermined due to lots of red tape.
6. Wayne Fox went over a list of club-owned materials and where they are currently stored. A list of these will follow to be put in the club records.

It was moved and seconded that the meeting be adjourned at 8:08 PM.

Respectfully submitted,
Peg McNary N9QT, Secretary
