Meeting notes: February 12, 2018

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm by Club President John Farmer.
There were 19 members and 4 visitors in attendance.

ARES Report : Ron Burke
• ARRL Indiana Section Manager election is this year. Deadline for petitions must be received at the ARRL Headquarters by 4pm on March 9th.
• The Hendricks County ARES Emergency Coordinator and an AEC had a meeting to re-establish ties with the American Red Cross. The meeting went very well, and a Ham training class is scheduled through the Red Cross with HCARES teaching the event. There will be two training classes, both on Saturdays in May. More events and meetings between the American Red Cross and HCARES to follow.

Old Business :
• February 23 will be a setup date for the club’s hamfest. Hours: 3-7pm.

New Business :
• The club’s Hamfest booth spaces are half full with the two big out of state vendors returning.
• A discussion to modify the club’s repeater and to possibly add 70cm(440 MHz) was mentioned and tabled till next club meeting.
• Comments of giving a donation to the Avon Robotic Club and to give a donation to the Hendricks County Senior Services Center for allowing the club to use their facility for club functions and training classes were also tabled until next club meeting.

Other Announcements :
• Winter Field Day event on January 27-28 at the Senior Services Center had four radio stations and logged in more than 300 contacts.

Meeting closed : At 9 pm Jay Wright made a motion to close the meeting, which was seconded by Dennis Gilbey.
