Meeting notes: May 9, 2011

The May meeting of the Hendricks County Amateur Radio Society was called to order at 7:08 PM by President John Farmer, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. There were 17 members present.

Secretary’s Report: The minutes for the April meeting were approved as read.

Treasurer’s Report was provided by Wayne Fox KE9P. Wayne reported that the ARRL is changing insurance carriers. We can stay with our old company, if desired. Our policy is valid until next spring.

Meeting notes: April 11, 2011

The April meeting of the Hendricks County Amateur Radio Society was called to order by President John Farmer at 7:00 PM, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. There were 18 members present.

Secretary’s Report: The minutes for the March meeting were read and approved as corrected (by adding the date [April 10, 2011] to the ARES training session on message handling).

Meeting notes: March 14, 2011

The meeting was called to order at 7:08 PM by President John Farmer N9CQ. Fourteen persons were present.

The minutes for the January and February meetings were read and approved.

Treasurer’s report was given by Wayne Fox KE9P.

VP Dennis Gilbey K9JZZ reported a phone number and local news report of how to become a “destination expert” for Hendricks County tourism.

Jay Wright KK9L indicated that the repeater needs to be checked if recent problems are caused by freezing temperatures.

OLD BUSINESS:

Meeting notes: February 14, 2011

The meeting was called to order by President John Farmer at 7:00 PM, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

The Treasurer’s report was given with the same numbers as last month.

There was no Secretary’s report due to her absence.

Jay Wright gave a repeater report. The heaters were plugged in (not previously done). The repeater was tuned slightly. Jay left the repeater site due to impending icy weather.

Meeting notes: January 10, 2011

The meeting was called to order by Wayne Fox at 7:00 PM. (President John Farmer and Vice President Dennis Gilbey were absent due to job and family responsibilities.) There were 17 members present.

Treasurer’s report was provided by Wayne Fox KE9P.

Repeater report (Harold Davis, Trustee):
There was some work done on the repeater. Due to complaints, the repeater was checked. SWR was higher than expected. Tune-up was done. All is well now.

ARES report:

Meeting notes: December 15, 2010

The annual HCARS Christmas party/election of officers was held at the Senior Services Center in Danville, IN, on 12/15/2010. Pizza, salad, drinks, and snacks were provided by the club. There were 18 members and 17 guests in attendance.

Featured at the party were:
*A computer slide show (using the club’s new projector) of various Field Day photos and events.
*Two displays showing Dennis Gilbey’s Wouff Hong collection and Wayne Fox’s grand prize (an Icom 718 HF radio) from the Fort Wayne Hamfest in November.

Meeting notes: November 8, 2010

President John Farmer called the meeting to order at 7:05 PM, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. Eighteen members were present.

Secretary’s Report:
Wayne Fox read the minutes for the September and October meetings. Both were approved, with one minor correction.

Treasurer’s Report:
Wayne Fox gave the Treasurer's Report.

Trustee’s Report:
Harold Davis reported that the repeater is working fine. One member reported some noise on the repeater, source unknown.

Meeting notes: October 11, 2010

The October 11, 2010 meeting was called to order by the President John Farmer at 7:04 PM, and was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

Treasurer, Wayne Fox then gave his report.

The repeater committee report given by Harold Davis, and everything is optimal.

The hilltop contest reported on, by Mike Rollins. We came in sixth place out of a possible 23, including nine hilltops.

The meeting was called to order by President John Farmer (N9CQ) at 7:00 PM with the Pledge of Allegiance. There were 17 members present.

Secretary’s Report: Not available.
Treasurer’s Report was provided by Wayne Fox (KE9P).
Vice President’s Report: Dennis Gilbey (K9JZZ) announced future hamfests and proposed radio campout.

Meeting Notes: August 9, 2010

The fundraiser was a success. Hendricks County Tourism would be happy to have us again next year, if the event is still in existence.

The repeater is doing good. Last month, the grass around it was cut.

John N9CQ talked about the 2010 Hilltop event. The details are as follows: 2m FM & SSB; 6m FM & SSB; & 80m SSB. Date & time: Saturday, August 28, 2010 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. I forget the exact site, but it's at a Boy Scout den master's house (near an old AT&T tower).

The bicycle race coming up was discussed.
