HCARS is a family of amateur radio operators dedicated to helping others. This is especially true during natural disasters or other emergencies. Many of our members are affiliated with ARES, RACES, and Skywarn. The club owns and maintains the 147.015 MHz repeater located near Belleville, Indiana. The club call sign is N9HC.

Regular meetings of the Hendricks County Amateur Radio Society are held the second Monday of the month at 7:00pm at the Hendricks County Government Center in Danville.

The meeting was called to order at 7:05 pm by Club President John Farmer.
There were 15 members and 3 visitor in attendance.

• Minutes from June 2018 were read.

• Saturday July 21 is our Monthly Hospital Net on 147.570 MHZ simplex at 10:30am.
• New ARRL Indiana Section Manager is Jimmy Merry.
• Quarterly membership meeting, July 18that 7pm, Senior Services Center.
• SET will be October 5th.

RACES Report :
• Bob Burns will stay on as Hendricks County RACES Radio Officer.

Old Business :
• Field Day discussion.

• Expenses for this month, a power generator to be used at Field Day and other club events.

• Saturday June 16th is our Monthly Hospital Net on 147.570 MHZ simplex at 10:30am.
• I.U.West hospital will be expanding their current building and will have to move the amateur radio station’s antenna to another spot on the roof.

• Repeater intermittent interference problem was discussed. The club’s repeater needs a battery backup and surge protector. Erik will search for one to install.

• Raddioddity has donated a brand new QB-25 FM mobile radio to HCARES to be used by the amateur radio operators for the Hendricks County Health Dept emergency drills/exercises and during emergencies/disasters. The radio w/AC power supply are contained inside a small tool box.
